3 THINGS EVERY WOMAN SHOULD HAVE IN HER CLOSET | DSTLD
With trends coming and going faster than we can buy them, it's easy to find ourselves having major buyer's remorse, and still... NOTHING to wear. How does that happen?! I'll tell you a little story before we get into outfit details...
As a teen, I used to go to New York with my step-father every year to visit family and go on a shopping spree (because why not?) I would pick out the most unique pieces so I could come back to Florida and be the only one wearing them. The issue? I kept getting frustrated on how I had a closet packed full of clothes and still couldn't find anything to wear. And then I had an epiphany... I was spending (wasting) all of this money on things I really didn't need, rather than starting from the bottom up with the basics. Example: my first designer purse was hot pink... not black, white, brown, or a color that goes with everything... PINK. Ugh. What was I thinking?! So I did a major closet clean out (multiple times throughout the years) and slowly but surely, started investing in the basics... and voila! I "magically" had better luck with putting outfits together with ease, because I made sure the pieces I invested in going forward were classic and timeless, making it easy to mix and match.
Anyways, my point? I'm not the only woman that struggles with this. The truth is, we all love pretty things and sometimes we allow the impulsive shopaholic in us to take over, rather than consider if we are making a smart purchase.
There are certain pieces every woman should have in their closet, including:
1. A basic white tee
2. A perfect pair of denim that compliments your shape
3. A black leather jacket
Whichinspires today's off-duty look withDSTLD, a brand that strictly focuses the essentials. Not only is their clothing high-quality, but it's also super affordable. #winwin
For all of my men readers out there, you're in luck. DSTLD carries tons of basics for men, as well, which you can shop here.
Let's start with the tee.
When I say you've never felt a softer fabric, you can take that to the bank. This t-shirt is extremely lightweight, breathable and comfortable, making it perfect for summer, or even all-year-round. The best part? It's only $30! Such a steal!
Pro Tip: A quality basic white tee is one of the most important staples to invest in, because it can be worn with everything. Dress it up with a cute skirt or high-waisted, tailored wide-leg pants and heels, or dress it down with denim and sneakers, or even lace-up sandals and a striped, flowy maxi skirt (obsessing over stripes lately.)
I paired it with their amazing High Waisted Ripped Mom Jeansin color "medium vintage," but other washes are available. The fit is incredible, and gives me shape (where it counts *wink wink*.) Not to mention, most of their jeans are under $100, including these. In today's world, it's rare to find a quality pair of denim that fits well under $175, which make these even more appealing. I've been wanting a pair of vintage looking denim that aren't quite a boyfriend fit, but also not a skinny, and these are perfect.
*Sizing side note: I'm a true 0/24 and can also wear a 00, but the size 24 in these jeans fits a little snug in the waist, so if you're known to be in-between sizes, I recommend sizing up one.

And now my favorite part...
I've been wanting a black leather jacket for the longest time, and I'm drooling over this one by DSTLD. A quality leather jacket usually costs anywhere from $1000+ (trust me, I've done my research) and let's be honest, who has that kind of money to just throw around? Which is why this one is so great, because not only is the quality of the leather top-notch, but the price is even better. It retails for $350! You can't beat that. In fact, most faux leather jackets cost about that much if not more. Aside from the price, my issue all of these years while hunting for a leather jacket was the fact that I simply didn't like the style. It was either too boring, the fit wasn't right, or most often it had too much silver hardware going on, which really junked up and in my opinion, wasted, a perfectly good piece of leather.
I believe every woman needs a leather jacket in her closet. It's a one-time purchase that will last you 20+ years if it's properly cared for. This leather jacket also comes in white, metallic silver, and black with black zippers, as well as black suede and gray suede. All for $350. SUCH a great price.
Obsessing over these star studded drop earrings(only $36).
Loving this minimalistic mini gray bag by Hieleven for $89 (I think we've established I like quality pieces for a good price, but who doesn't?) Also available in a larger size, as well as in navy, black and khaki.
Ladies (and gents), invest invest investin the basics to avoid not having anything to wear. Not to mention a white tee, denim and a leather jacket is my go-to outfit that requires minimal effort to look effortlessly chic.
