I've never been the type to follow a trend just because it's "in." I have to truly love it. If I'm not feeling it, I'm on to the next one...
Don't get me wrong; I'm constantly incorporating fresh, new styles into my wardrobe because it's my job. However, I don't feel pressured to wear what everyone else is wearing (in fact, I try to do the opposite), nor do I feel out of style, even if my entire look is not considered "current."
One of the most challenging things about being a blogger is staying true to your style. Especially when you see all of the leading bloggers sporting the latest and greatest. You may not like it, but you consider making it work just for the sake of wearing what's relevant... "Big mistake. Huge!" (Shoutout to all of you who get the reference.) My life motto is 'You can pull off any outfit as long as it's worn with confidence.' Wearing something that's not you is always uncomfortable, and it shows. Believe me. Even if it's the hottest trend on the runway, if you don't feel like a million bucks, don't wear it. Simple!
Speaking of trends, one of the most flattering styles (in my opinion) is a-line. It's chic. It's timeless, and you can't go wrong, because it looks good on every body type. Whether it be a dress or a skirt - mini, midi, or floor-length - it instantly slims your waist and gives you shape. Who doesn't want that?
This skirt by Maje is ahh-mazing. The exaggerated a-line style is so feminine and flattering. The pattern is elegant and the craftsmanship is quality, with a unique fabric that keeps its perky shape. Not to mention it has pockets... yes, you heard me! I always get super excited when I try on a dress or skirt and realize it has pockets. I'm instantly sold...Every. Time. But what can I say? It's the little details that count.Whether it be a silk tank with lace-up sandals in the summer or a turtleneck with tights and booties in the winter, this skirt can be worn all year round, so you really get your money's worth.
I paired it with this adorable balloon sleeve top, also by Maje. You would think since the skirt is so flouncy that the top would be too much, but it works. The secret is the cinched waist balances everything out.
My silver midi rings are by my favorite multi-brand online jewelry retailer, Audaviv (shophere & here.) I can't get enough of this scarf necklace by Idalia Baudo. You can wear it so many different ways - as a simple lariat, belt, around a hat, tied once in the back so it drapes (this looks amazing with an open back dress), or tied in a bow like I did. The possibilities are truly endless.
