THE SECRET TO FULFILLING YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS
There's a reason New Year's resolutions don't last. It's not that they're unattainable or unrealistic, but rather the time frame we place on those goals to make them happen. Such as me going to bed at 4am every morning for the past 5 years, but striving to call it a night at 10pm starting tomorrow (yeah right). It just doesn't work. Why? Because self-improvement doesn't happen over one day. It takes weeks and often months to change habits. It's a process, and if you want to successfully fulfill your resolutions this year, you have to give yourself time to adjust while keeping your goals in mind.
Read on to find out the golden secret to successfully fulfilling not one but all of your New Year's resolutions...
Write down 3-5 small, yet important, goals you want to achieve this year. Instead of trying to start all of them at once on the same day, list them in order from easiest to most difficult. One by one, cross each goal off once you've mastered it, then move on to the next one. Once you've accomplished those few things, and you still have half a year left to go, create another list and follow the same process. Before you know it, you will be a new and improved you! Drastically trying to change one's lifestyle never works, so give yourself a fair chance and you might be pleasantly surprised!
One thing I find extremely helpful when it comes to achieving goals is creating lists and schedules a week in advance. Whether it be a gym schedule with the weekly focus in mind (abs, booty, legs), or a meal plan, having an idea of what you want to accomplish each day and allotting a specific amount of time to complete that task will always give you better results than saying, "maybe I should eat a salad today," or "I probably should go to the gym." Scheduling is my strong suit, and I can honestly say I wouldn't accomplish anything without being so organized.
And that, my friends, is the secret to fulfilling your resolutions. That's it!
I can proudly say that according to last year's New Year's resolution post (read here), I've accomplished 4/5 of my goals, with the 5th one being to blog full-time, which I'm almost there! I have an amazing feeling about 2017, and I'm so excited to conquer my goals this year and then some! This year, I plan to travel a lot more (passport? check!), try new things, meet new people, focus on my blog, and continue to live life to the fullest and be happy.
