You know it's meant to be when you walk into a store and the dress of your dreams is the last one in your size, serenading you with "Baby Come Back" until you try it on, buy it, and live happily ever after. That's the story of how I found this
perfect summer dress from H&M.
I wanted to have fun with this outfit and reveal my fearless sense of style. I got creative and crisscrossed my rope belt to break up the red, threw on my favorite SJP heels, and added this Milly rainbow clutch to tie all of my colorful accessories together.
There are so many unique ways to style this dress. For a casual daytime look, opt for a lace-up sandal or sneakers and a sunhat, or pair it with a leather jacket and booties for a daring nighttime look. The possibilities are endless!
Some of us live by the rules, and others extend themselves beyond the boundaries of what society deems acceptable. When it comes to fashion, I prefer to create my own rules, or the absence thereof.
Don't get me wrong, I love sporting the basics, but I'm also not afraid to take
risks. Whether I'm coming up with outfits for my blog or everyday life, it's all
about trial and error. Instead of gravitating towards the obvious, I always mix and
match the most questionablecombinationsuntil I give it my seal of approval.
More times than not, I'm pleasantly surprised! I often do this when I'm convinced I have nothing to wearand feel the urge to shop for a new wardrobe, which is totally delusional. It motivates me to get creative, instead of breaking the bank.
Someone once asked me to define my personal style, and shockingly, I couldn't give them an exact answer. I appreciate all styles and trends, and choose not to limit myself. One day, I'll throw on leather pants with a bomber jacket and booties, and the next day I'll keep it classic with a white tee, blazer, boyfriend jeans and pumps. It all depends on the statement I'm trying to make.
Let's be real,we all have moments of uncertainty when it comes to our taste in fashion and ask ourselves, "is it too much?"Some days I feel like a style connoisseur, and other daysI wonder if I got ready in the dark. Nonetheless, I've learned to trust my style instincts, even when others form a consensus disagreeing with my outfit choices. I know what I feel the most confident in, which is the key to pulling off any outfit!
Pro Tip:If you think your outfit makes too much of an entrance, that's how you know you're doing it right!
My ultimate secret, as cliché as it sounds, is that I'm not afraid to try anything and everything. I want to make the unfamiliar familiar. The most important thing is to have fun with fashion and not take yourself too seriously (see above)! One of the most difficult challenges I find in modern-day society is staying true to who you are, especially when it comes to your personal style. Though I am inspired by the latest trends, I don't entirely base my outfits on what's "in".
If I love it, I wear it!
P.S. - I'd like to dedicate this post to the victims of the Orlando Pulse tragedy. My heart goes out to those affected. We are all beautifully unique, and it is crucial that we support each other's individuality. Love always wins!
