My friends, it's true. The one thing we were wishing would never make a comeback is now the hottest commodity in the world of accessories. Behold, the fanny pack. Or as Mim & Ray likes to call it, the "hipster." And yes... I'm LOVING it. Especially when it looks as chic as this one I'm wearing by Mim & Ray. I love the black because it matches everything, but it's also available in dark green, camel and sand.
I know what you're thinking... "I wore those in the '80s and that's exactly where they're staying." Okay, I completely hear you, butplease, let's not get it confused... I'm not into the cheesy ones made out of polyester that say "aloha!" Yes, those we want to bury. Forever. There's an art to pulling them off in the chicest way possible, and it all starts with the bag itself (we'll talk about styling it a little later.)
Allow me to show you...
Believe me when I say I was as skeptical as you at first. But as I kept seeing this trend on all of the glamazons, celebs, models and bloggers, I started to fall in love. After spending many hours researching the best fanny packs currently on the market, I can assure you that this one by Mim & Ray takes the cake.
1. PRICE: Sure, you can go get a designer one, but it's going to cost you a few thousand dollars. Although I'm seriously OBSESSED with this trend, I wouldn't classify it as classic and, therefore, in my opinion, it's not the type of item you want to spend that kind of money on. But that's just me. This bag by Mim & Ray is $300, which is an incredible price for the quality and craftsmanship that goes into each bag - all of their bags are made in Italy and the knit detailing is all by hand. Sure, it's a tad pricey, but totally worth it. Which leads me to my next point.
2. VERSATILITY: I'm super picky when it comes to the things that I buy. I have to LOVE it, NEED it, and I have to be able to get use out of it instead of it sitting in the closet #guiltyaschargedinmypastlife... What's really cool about this bag is that not only can you wear it around your waist, but the strap is long enough that you can wear it as a crossbody! I mean... seriously! What's not to LOVE about this bag?! You without a doubt get your money's worth. But wait... there's more!
3. ALL SIZES MATTER:Speaking of the strap, this bag is suitable for everyone of all sizes because the strap is so long that there's tons of room to adjust it so you're comfortable. Not to worry - they designed it so it easily tucks underneath so you don't have an unwanted excess strap showing. Whether you prefer to wear it lower on the hip for an effortlessly cool look, or high-waisted as pictured, it's totally up to you! Oh, the options you'll have!
Let's Talk Styling
I'm highly aware that this is one of my less conservative outfits, but you've gotta admit that this bag simply calls for a sassy outfit. I swear, there's certain pieces in life that you'll buy that will inspire you so much and take your style to the next level. This bag is one of those things. The first time I saw it I was like, wow that's really cute. Then I tried it on and it changed my life. No exaggeration. #maybejustalittle #seriouslythough
Today's look is inspired by 90s Guess vibes. I'm wearing a men's shirt from Banana Republicbecause a) there's no shirt dresses in stores whatsoever (I assume there's no demand) and b) it's really the only way to get that "I stole my boyfriend's shirt" look. This shirt is 100% cotton, which you need in order to achieve this look because you want the shirt to hold its shape when you style it instead of sag down like other fabrics might do. I looked at tons of different brands, and they all had logos and pockets, which I didn't want. So this shirt I'm wearing was the winner because it was the perfect fabric, had no logos and no pockets. #takemymoney
For reference, I'm a size 0/xs, am 5'7" and I'm wearing a size medium and could have done the large. I was even trying on extra larges and they worked. It's okay if the shirt is ridiculously big because that's the look you're going for.
This bag by Mim & Ray can be styled so many different ways. The tassels give it a playful edge, and you can totally rock it with a tee, ripped boyfriend jeans and slides with the bag low around your waist or as a crossbody. You can also style it with a sweater dress and sneakers for a more casual and on-the-go look.
I was so excited to recently add these suede over-the-knee bootsto my shoe collection, because all I have in my closet are heels and sandals since I live in Florida. There's something about OTN boots that make you feel so empowered, chic, sexy and straight-up fabulous, so if you don't own a pair, let's change that. You won't regret it.
Here are 4 different price options, and they're all pretty similar:
