My bluetooth headphones by Sudio were a life saver during NYFW. With all of the chaos, it was nice to plug in and relax in my Uber, on the plane, on the train, or while walking through the city.
Happy weekend everyone! So I'm finally back in Florida from New York Fashion Week, and it was an incredible experience to say the least. Going to Fashion Week was always something I dreamed of doing, but it seemed so far out of reach. Being a blogger has given me the opportunity to live this dream of mine, and I truly wouldn't be where I am without my followers - so thank you for being so awesome and supportive!
Today I'm sharing with you all of my NYFW adventures, what I learned, tips and all that jazz...
T-1 Days till NYFW
This was my unofficial first look before NYFW officially began at the first of many blogger social gatherings in the city. It was a gorgeous day with a high of 60, which explains why I was wearing shorts, but that didn't last for long...
I was kind of excited to see snow since it's been a while, but I was NOT expecting a snow storm...needless to say I wasn’t prepared, but I don’t think anyone was to be honest. If you're bundled up properly, cold weather is bearable... but the wind, ugh! I literally thought I was going to blow away. I'm just glad I flew out the day before, because a lot of my friends' flights got cancelled and they missed the first couple days of shows.
Getting to my first show was comical, and I wish I had it on film to show you guys. I could barely see from all of the snow pouring down, there was slush everywhere (bye bye good shoes), my best friend was holding me up to make sure I didn't slip and bust my rear, my umbrella broke from the wind (oops, there goes my straight hair)... but I still managed to pull through...the show must go on! Or, "make it work" as Tim Gunn always says, and I certainly did!
I bought these insanely gorgeous navy suede boots to wear with this outfit, but the weather had other plans, so I ended up wearing my Adidas sneakersall day. Call it “sporty chic” if you will. Whatever, I made it work!
P.S. if you're looking for quality fashion that's affordable, Storets is your one-stop-shop, and one of my favorite online retailers. As you can see, my outfit looks designer, but it's a fraction of the cost. A lot of people asked if I was wearing Gucci.. someone even said Tommy Hilfiger. Their designs are very fashion-forward, and I'm obsessed with every single piece (I need it all.) They have pages upon pages of styles to choose from, so it's impossible to leave empty-handed. Definitely check them out!
I hung out with Rebecca Minkoff at her blogger event! The store is SO cool, and the fitting room mirrors are interactive with touch screens allowing you to change the color and dimness of the light. I need it in my room.
Sooo I woke up the next morning to find myself on the front page of Harper's Bazaar! (happy dance)
As well as featured in the beginning of the official NYFW street style video!
NYfw day #2
TRESemmé team wereTired of the wind blowing my hair in my face, I opted for a crown braid at the TRESemmé bar! Most of the shows were at Skylight Clarkson Square, where they had multiple lounges and fun things going on for people to do in-between shows, including a Photo Booth! The life-savers since my pin straight hair on day 1 turned into a beachy/wavy look by the very first show. And yes, I made my braid last through the entire Fashion Week since I didn't feel like doing my hair, because I was so exhausted after each day that I didn't have the energy. They did such an amazing job!
I had the amazing opportunity to interview one of my favorite evening wear designers, Pamella Roland. Read the full interview here - published on the official Fashion Week Online website.
I ran into Nigel Barker from America's Next Top Model backstage at the Pamella Roland show!
I also interviewed the designers of RtA. Their collection was very edgy and fashion-forward, my fave! I wanted every piece! Read the full interview here - published on the official Fashion Week Online website.
NYfw day #3
Day 3 began with an early morning presentation for Paul Andrew's new shoe collection, then running over to Skylight Clarkson Square for the Taoray Wang show, which by the way was SO good. But I had a little trouble in between... I left my phone in the Uber on the way to the show! I was freaking out because all of my contacts, addresses, show tickets, and pretty much life is on my phone. But luckily, I was able to get ahold of the guy and retrieved my phone, AND made it just in time for the Taoray show. It ended up working out perfectly, but I was definitely more cautious of my belongings going forward.
PRO TIP: When you get out of an Uber, make sure you have everything. I was carrying so many bags, and my phone fell out. NO Bueno.
I'm #obsessedwith this striped button downwith the embroidered collar. It's a twist on a classic dress shirt. Wear it to work, or even with boyfriend jeans and heels for a night out.
This was my fave (and most comfortable) outfit I wore at NYFW. I unintentionally matched Tommy Hilfiger's Tommyland theme (red, royal blue and mustard)... how did that happen? Coincidences do exist after all.
When shopping for my final outfit, I decided to try on these mustard jeans from J.Crew, since they are one of the main trending colors forecasted for spring. I loved them, so I grabbed the shirt, sweater and sneakers hoping they would work, and they did! I remembered I saw an awesome red coat in another store earlier, so it was perfect. This outfit was put together in less than 15 minutes, and it was almost as if the fashion gods were guiding me to just the right pieces. There's a lot going on in this outfit, but it works since all of the colors are cohesive. What do you guys think?
On day number 4, I woke up with the WORST headache and fever, so I cancelled all of my shows and stayed in bed most of the day. My body was overworked for sure, and just needed rest. I managed to make a very special show in the evening organized by my dear friend, Anita, who is the designer and founder of jewelry brand SiammPatra (I'm wearing her necklace). She styled her jewelry on the runway to accompany designer House of Byfield! I'm sure you've seen me feature her her pieces on my blog, and I'm so excited to style her brand new 'Escape' collection that just launched this week!
How AMAZING is this bomber jacket by Bow & Drape?! I will be featuring it soon on the blog soon. They have sweaters, tees and jackets, as well as pillows, dog outfits and other accessories you can customize with their wide variety of letter and image patches! They're best known for their clever sayings like, "You had me at merlot," or "Namasty in bed"... story of my life! Click here to see a collection of designs and sayings for inspiration. You can let your imagination run free and add an unlimited amount of patches on your piece at no additional charge. Check them out. I'm totally obsessed!
NYfw day #5
It's been 5 years or so since I've been to New York...WAY too long. I forgot how much I love the city, so I'm definitely making it a point to visit more often. I didn't have time to enjoy New York, because I was either looking down at my phone looking for directions, Instagramming, or busy going from show to show. Day 5 was a little more relaxing, as I only had Zang Toi's show in the evening, which was my favorite collection that I saw. His dramatic couture garments make a beautiful statement going down the runway... just breathtaking. It was my last day in New York, so I cleared my schedule to enjoy the city a little bit and visit some friends.
How amazing is this tweed blazer and skirt set from Storets? These Chanel vibes had me feeling like Blair Waldorf... xoxo Gossip Girl...
P.S. I was happy that I finally got to wear my Stuart Weitzman boots. Between the snow and the slush, they were bound to get ruined, but the weather was pretty nice the day before I left (of course...Murphy's law..)
How amazing are my lash extensions? They were a LIFE and TIME SAVER during all of the NYFW chaos, and made doing my makeup in the morning a whole lot easier. Not to mention, I was photo ready at all times #iwokeuplikethis... literally. I get NovaLash, which is on the pricer side but SO worth it because unlike the inexpensive lash extensions, the adhesive on these don't irritate your eyes (I had a really bad experience the first time I got mine cheaply done)... If you're going to splurge on lashes, spend the extra money and get the more safe and higher quality NovaLashes. Mine last for a solid month... It's worth every penny.
Lashes by my lovely friend, Bree, at Skin Care & Lash Studio located at 2646 SW Mapp Rd, Suite 205, Palm City, Florida.
Let's talk about how amazing this bagis by FARRAH + SLOANE. The distinguished exaggerated fringe detail makes a statement, instantly transforming any outfit from average to fashion-forward. I opted for a medium length bag, but they also carry bags nearly double this length - shop here. Expect to see these unique bags repeatedly featured on the blog... I can't get enough!

It's not Fashion Week if there's not a little chaos thrown into the mix, right? I can't wait for the September shows, because the weather will be nicer so more people will attend, and the designers will be previewing their spring collections (my favorite).
