It's crazy to think 2016 is coming to an end.. #pinchme! This year has been extremely eventful with many highs and many lows, new friends and opportunities, and even the beginning of my blog.
As I look back on this year's experiences, there's a few things I will keep in mind going forward, and I hope you do the same because you deserve it. It's easy to get caught up in the routine of everyday life, but it's important to stop and take a minute to remind ourselves of these few things...
Work hard, be persistent and always give your best in everything you do.
If it makes you happy, do it. Time is your most valuable asset, so spend it wisely on people and things that bring you happiness.
Take risks. At the end of the day, we only regret the chances we didn't take.
Don't be afraid to fail.We often hold ourselves back from pursuing our dreams because of the possibility things won't work out. It's difficult to break out of your comfort zone, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy. It is through our most trivial times that we learn the most valuable lessons, and develop the strength, wisdom and courage we need to be successful.
Follow your dreams. It's not going to be easy. In fact, it's going to be quite the opposite. But it's going to be worth it, and you owe it to yourself to take that risk.
It's OK to not know. We are all secretly control freaks, and always want to know what's going to happen next. Whether it be a career, love or moving to another city, there's a million possible outcomes. It may not turn out the way you planned and you may get your heart broken, but maybe, just maybe... you will get lucky and it will be the best thing that's ever happened to you. You won't know unless you try.
Let goof what you can't control. Live your life, do your own thing, and everything will work out. Guaranteed.
Don't sweat the small stuff. Only focus on the most important things. Everything else is just noise and distracting you from your true purpose.
Always be yourself. One of life's greatest challenges is staying true to ourselves in a world that is constantly telling us who we should be. More importantly, never mold to fit someone's expectations of you and let them determine your worth. There is always room for improvement, but you're perfect the way you are, and the right people will appreciate what you have to offer.
Keep moving forward. If you keep looking back at the past and what could have been, you won't allow yourself to move in the direction you're supposed to.
So here's to new beginnings and welcoming 2017 with a heart full of love, optimism and open arms!
