If one thing is for sure, it's that rules are made to be broken. I've never been a conventional kind of gal (nor do I have any desire to be), because #1. life is more fun this way and #2. you will only realize your full potential if you take risks and push boundaries.
When it comes to fashion, you don't have to choose between being over or underdressed. Why not have both? Speaking of dresses, this one a la VIPme is the perfect combo of casual and chic with the cotton and tulle mix. This dress perfectly describes my personality and style - classy with a touch of sassy. It's rebellious to the norm of what a casual or elegant dress should be.

The world of fashion has evolved tremendously, especially since Coco Chanel pioneered trousers as a trend for women in the 1920s and '30s. That was a major "gasp" moment for everyone, since women wearing pants were shunned upon, which is such a shame, because I LOVE a good pair of pants - tailored, wide leg, you name it #gimme.
The beauty of the modern-day fashion world is that originality and uniqueness is condoned, and no rules apply. Yes, wearing white is acceptable after Labor Day and yes, you can totally rock a chic jumpsuit instead of a dress for a cocktail event! The possibilities are endless!

Okay, so let's talk about this insanely chic coat by REISS. One of the first things that lured me into this piece was the color. It's a twist on your typical black trench, and can be worn with anything, even a sleeveless summer dress like this one. Notice how the gray coat doesn't clash with my dress? Its solid color makes pairing even the same color with a different pattern (usually a disaster) effortless, as shown in my outfit.
PRO TIP: When it comes to wearing a neutral color aside from black, I always tell people to pair the piece with the same colors, prints and patterns as they would if it were black so it's less intimidating when mixing and matching. Neutral is neutral!
Not to mention its free-flowing movement is so elegant and feminine when it sways in the wind...
One of my favorite trends this season is velvet, and I'm especially head over heels over this royal blue velvet bag by Rebecca Minkoff. The color is so rich and luscious, and it matches everything since it's a neutral. You also have the option to wear it as a crossbody during the day or clutch at night with the detachable chain!
